Flowers for Worship: Consider honoring a birthday, anniversary, baptism, marriage, or the memory of a loved one by sponsoring flowers for worship. You may purchase two bouquets each week which are delivered to OSF or Carle hospital for hospitalized and home-centered folks after worship. You may sponsor one or two bouquets for the Sanctuary at $30 each, one bouquet for Parlor Chapel for $35, or all three bouquets for $155.

Altar Candles: You may make a donation to the altar lamp fund, either in memory of a loved one or in honor of friends, family, or a special occasion. The cost for a whole month of candles for the Atherton Chapel altar is $17, while a month of candles for the Sanctuary altar is $25. Your gift will be acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin the first Sunday of the month you sponsor.

Memorial Gifts: You may give a memorial gift on behalf of those members or friends of First United Methodist Church of Urbana who have died. Often times the family will designate a fund preference for memorial gifts in the service bulletin. Please note the designation in the memo section of your check and make the check payable to First United Methodist Church of Urbana If there is no designation specified, memorial gifts are categorized as “special gifts” to the congregation. If you are making a contribution to a designated party other than First United Methodist Church of Urbana, please send the memorial gift directly to the recipient. If the donation is to another United Methodist Affiliated group or mission then note that in your memo line of your check or envelope.  All memorial Gifts are held in the Wealth Management Until a destination is fulfilled. Urbana First United Methodist Church Building & Wealth Management Fund: The First United Methodist Church of Urbana Building and Wealth Management Fund was established by action of the church board of Trustees. The Trustee’s meet quarterly to review the gifts received and if they family request are acceptable to the mission and ministry of the Church. These requests are for undertakings which enrich and uplift the spiritual life of the Church, provide worthy addition or improvement to the church’s facilities, and give needed assistance or support to a worthy Christian individual, family, or enterprise. Library Books: The Urbana First United Methodist Church Library accepts and appreciates books given in honor or memory of loved ones for a variety of age groups. Appropriate donations will promote the library’s goal: to provide resources for personal and spiritual growth; provide basic resources on Christian faith, doctrine, other religions, and life and living for a variety of age groups; and provide basic materials as resources to First United Methodist Church of Urbana’s committees and educational programs. SEASONAL FESTIVE DECORATIONS AND GIFTS

 

Poinsettias / Easter Lilies During Advent and Lent, you may give a gift in honor or remembrance of loved ones to help add poinsettias / Lillie for Christmas or Easter for First United Methodist Church of Urbana. Gifts are acknowledged in the Christmas bulletins. Any amount is welcomed.

Memorialize A Loved One on Christmas or Easter: Would you like to memorialize your loved one in a special way? Please consider sponsoring one of our brass or string players in honor/memory of a loved one at one of our Easter Services. The bulletin will have the memorial to your loved one, e.g. “The instrumentalist at our 6:00 pm Service was sponsored by the Smith Family in honor of John Smith”.

The fee for an instrumentalist is $100 per service.  If you are interested in memorializing your loved one, please contact Church office for more information

 

Christmas Eve Broadcast and Rebroadcast: On Christmas Eve First UM Church of Urbana streams a one-hour program on Facebook, the website and on Urbana Public Access Channel which includes scripture, prayer, a sermon by our senior pastor, and music from Urbana First worship Team. Each year we receive dozens of reports, acknowledgements, and thank-you notes from members and strangers who hear the stream at home and in the car throughout the country.

If you’d like to contribute toward this service, please mail a check to First United Methodist Church of Urbana and note “FUMCU Christmas Livestream.” You may give a gift toward this event in honor or in memory of a loved one to be included in the Christmas Eve bulletins. Please include information about whom you wish to honor or remember and whom the gift is given by along with your check. Thank you!
